It includes a graphics engine upgrade as well as compatibility with preview DirectX 10 and Windows Vista technologies. It also has amazing features like Tower control capability, more than 80 missions and more high detailed cities and airports.

Though it’s worth a look at, it is already a few years old and the downside of Microsofts Flight Sim is the fact that you will have to spend a lot of money on add ons and expansions to get the real fun.  X-Plane v10 (Windows, MAC & Linux)

This flight simulator too is one of a kind; it was released on December 2011. This is the newest version of the 20 year old series of X-Plane.  It has improved flight model including windflex, better use of the multi-core processing for artificial intelligence aircraft, global illumination and shadowing, etc. this is very interesting for many sim enthusiasts.

There are many compatible add-ons available for this game that allow you the simulate a big number of flying aircrafts and to explore the whole world.

Unfortunately it only includes 30 airplanes from gliders to a Space Shuttle, but it also allows online flying with other virtual pilotes.

All in all this is a game worth checking out, but in my opinion it can’t beat my favorite flight simulator game called Virtual Pilot 3D.

This simulator is also very much state of the art and has been used in a range of projects in academia and industry (even NASA) and home built cockpits as well.

It offers more than 150 Airplanes and Helicopters already included in the package, this is the biggest choice of all the top flight simulator games presented here.

Over 48 programmers are working together on this advanced flight simulation software, to offer you a high level of realism. This is not really a game, it is a real simulation software and suitable to learn a lot about flying real aircraft.

This flight sim is actually an iPhone app, so it’s perfect to play while you are on the go. It has crazy features; you can fly over 30 plus missions and learn how to dogfight, fly the deadly aircraft miles above the earth, fly freely in a full 3D, complete 360-degree environment with realistic fight controls, etc.

This is more for casual gamers than for real flight simulator enthusiasts. It can’t compare with a fully grown flight simulation software like Virtual Pilot 3D.

But it surely is a fun game to play while you are on the road and don’t have access to your computer.

This guy really got lucky. He won an hour in a real flight simulator for the Boeing 767. Here is his great video, he recorded during the Boeing 767 cockpit simulator session. I found it very interesting, although the video quality is a bit low.

This cockpit simulator is the real deal. I wish I could use it once. During the flight the plane has an engine failure, so at the end of the video he lands with just one engine working. Well done.

If you are still using just your computers keyboard to fly airplanes in your favorite flight sim, then you should really think about getting a flight yoke. This will enhance your flying experience so much, you will never want to fly without your new flight simulator yoke again.

Today you can find lot’s of different flight simulator hardware to enhance your flying experience, hardware such as rudder pedals, various cockpit instruments and panels, headsets or even special chairs. You can set up a complete cockpit at home for the most realistic flight experience, but if you don’t have the money for that, I would suggest you get at least a flight simulator yoke.

What is a flight yoke? Well, it looks a bit like a steering wheel and its used to control the plane and will give you a much more realistic feel for the airplanes controls then using a keyboard. Instead of pushing the correct button on the keyboard, you just push or pull the yoke to bring the plane down or up, or you turn it to the sides and the plane will turn to the side. On top of that most yokes come with a number of buttons that you can set up to control whatever you like.

Watch the video above, it provides valuable info, how you should choose your flight simulator yoke. When people ask me, if they should choose a flight yoke or a joystick, I tend to recommend them to get both. Why?

Because a yoke is not good for every airplane. Some planes use flight sticks, some use yokes. So it depends, which airplanes you usually prefer to fly. Smaller aircrafts like a Cessna and the big Boeing passenger jets are using yokes, while Airbus passenger planes and most military jets are using the flight stick, which is more similar to a computer joystick.

To help you find the better quality flight simulator yokes and joysticks I have listed them below. I personally really like CH products because of their very good quality, that’s why I use the CH Flight Simulator Yoke. But all the others listed are very good as well. Check them out:

Are you a flight games fan? There are hundreds of simple flight games online, that you can play for free. When I was younger I used to play these little games online just to kill time. You play them for half an hour, and that’s it. You can’t get any level higher or you just get tired of it, or the graphics are just too poor to keep you entertained long enough.

The Cessna Citation X is one of the most popular small passenger aircrafts in the world. It’s nowadays the fastest civilian airplane available, with a cruising speed just below of the sound barrier at Mach .92. It is used mostly as a business jet, due to its high speed, very good fuel efficiency and long distance capabilities.

It has always been my dream to fly this awesome business jet, so I was looking for a Citation X Flight simulator to be able to practice on it and get a feel for the handling of the plane. Unfortunately there were not so many Flight Simulator Games on the market, that included the Citation X Flight Simulator. This airplane has a revolutionary cockpit, and I wanted to check it out in a realistic Flight Simulator Game and get used to it’s controls.
